Today was a chilly day.  Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed for the colder weather as we have outdoor play everyday.  We also had our Reach for the Stars Assembly.  Congratulations to those friends who won the awards for Justice for our class this month.

Red Class

Happy Monday!  We began our week with a wind chill of -20 degrees.....YIKES!  As per Board policy the children stay inside when the weather is -25 degrees or colder, therefore we had outdoor play as per usual.  With this in mind please remember to dress your child apprpriately for the weather including warm hats, mittens, jacket and also snowpants.  While there isn't a lot of snow on the ground yet the snowpants provide an extra layer of warmth.  Waterproof mittens (preferably not gloves) are recommended.  Also, it is extremely important to label EVERYTHING as there are many pairs of similar snowpants and mittens.  Thank you!

Today our JK/SK friends said goodbye to Mrs. Payette....we are going to miss her...we welcome Ms. Spencer who will be joining us next week. 

This is what the children are saying about today...

Rehema and I pretended that we found different things from seagulls.  The pompoms were eggs, the buttons were rocks and the feathers were the wings that they lost while they were flying.  The seagulls use the rocks to help chew up the food in their tummy. (Cole)

I had fun with the Lego.  I made a house with Sidney. (Olivia J.)

I made a cloud picture with white paint.  It looks like a bird. (Lauren F.)

I loved the listening center.  I listened to Pete the Cat. (Kylie)

Our class had two informative and fun presentations this morning about fire safety and hand washing. We are sending home some information given to us by the firefighter.

Just a couple of reminders.... Friday is a PD Day and therefore there is no school for students. Teachers will be attending our annual Christian Community Day.  Also, today you will find an interview day and time in your child's mailbag. Please indicate whether or not you will be attending and return the bottom portion of the letter to school. If you did not receive an interview letter that means we have already met or we need to make other arrangements due to vacation.

I had fun with Ms. Melody.  We were looking for germs under the glitterbug. (Tyler)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!  We had a fun filled day doing many different Halloween activities.  Our parade was a huge success and the children loved wearing their costumes.

Here are some other things that we did today:

I loved making my Halloween crown. (Caleb)

I made a ghost with paper and scissors. (Nicole)

I liked walking in circles wearing my princess dress. (Alexis)

I made a pizza with playdough.  I used pumpkin shapes too. (Emma)

I really liked the parade.  I liked the Spiderman costume the best. (Sybilla)

Today we had out first Reach for the Stars assembly.  This month our focus was on Community.  Congratulations to the following friends who received an award:

Here are some things that we did today:

I made a ghost out of white paper, scissors and glue. (Lauren)

Today I made a cool house out of Lego and Miss Clarene liked it. (Madison)

I made a hat for Halloween with some stickers and pumpkins and a sign that said HALLOWEEN. (Caleb)

I printed colour names. (Alex)

We made a race track with blocks. (Rhaven)

I printed Halloween words on spider paper. (Mirren)

We also celebrated ECE Appreciation Day today. Thank you to Miss B. for all you do to make learning so much fun!!!

Red Class

Halloween is just 2 days away..... Please remember to send your child's costume in a labelled bag on the morning of Halloween. Children will be putting their costumes on after rest time, participating in a school wide parade and then doing some Halloween activities in the afternoon. Thank you to the parent volunteers who will be helping us out on Thursday! Please do not send treats for snacks. We are continuing to encourage healthy eating.

Here are a few things we did at school today:

I liked the part of the day when I made a pumpkin with 3 triangles and a green line. (Janelle)

My favourite part of the day was going to the gym. (Munesu)

Green Class

This is what I did at school today:

I cut a circle and made a jack-o-lantern. (Mattias)

I spelled BOO and made a picture of me. (Cole)

I made some letters out of jewels. (Lauryn)

I played at the pumpkin center.  I picked out all the seeds. (Justin)

I shared my toys with my friends. (Rehema)

I found the spiders inside the web. (Rhaven)
