What is God's purpose for us?

Mrs. D, our religion teacher has been talking to the red class about what they think God's purpose for them is. This is what some of them believe:

Our Classroom Visitor

Yesterday Alexis found a caterpillar outside and asked if we could bring it into our classroom. We said, "YES!" We asked the students what they think a caterpillar needs to survive. We decided to grab a container and put some holes in the lid so the caterpillar can breathe. During outdoor play some of the students gathered leaves and twigs to put inside the container. We watched a video that showed us that caterpillars like to eat leaves and form their chrysalis on twigs.

This morning when the students came inside they went straight to look at our caterpillar. We couldn't find the caterpillar! Many of the students had the same question, "Where did our caterpillar go?" We became detectives today! We took out some magnifying glasses to take a closer look.

Some of our friends had their own thoughts about what had happened.

"Maybe it turned into a chrysalis" - Charlotte
"It think it got on the ground and went outside" - Justin
"How could it do that with the lid on it?" - Guiliana
"It could have went in the holes" - Senna
"I think the caterpillar is camouflaged" - Senna
"I think someone in EDP took him out" - Ryan

We found the caterpillar!

We found the caterpillar between two leaves. It looks like it might be forming a chrysalis.

Fire Station

The red class has been having a ton of fun in our classroom Fire Station. They created fire trucks, fire alarms, fire hats and fire poles.

Some of our friends are pretending there are fires in our classroom. They're asking each other to call 911. Some of our red ladybugs might become Fire Fighters when they're older!

Our Fire Station Trip

On Monday the Red Class walked to the Fire Station to learn about an important community worker. We learned about what the Fire Fighters do, what a Fire Station looks like inside and what a fire truck looks like up close. We were even lucky enough to go inside the fire truck.

Kylie noticed a sign on the road that had a picture of a fire truck. She thought that the sign was to tell us we were getting close to the station. She was right!

These are the three fire fighters that were nice enough to give us a tour.

We got to see everything that a fireman wears when he has to go fight fire.

The students were fascinated about the poles.

At the end of our tour we got to see how high their ladder could reach.

After visiting the fire station, the red class decided that they wanted to turn our dramatic play centre into a fire station. We made a list of things we may need for our fire station.

The red class is going to be busy! I can't wait to see what they come up with.

How Tall Are You?

The red class is very interested in measurement! On Wednesday our morning message asked our friends how tall they are. We demonstrated how to use a measuring tape. We talked about inches verses centimetres. We decided that we would measure our friends using inches.

During centre time we left out the measuring tapes so they could measure each other.

Abby decided to record how tall her friends are on a piece of paper.

Other students decided to record their findings on the message board.
